JASSON MINADAKIS came to Marin Theatre Company’s top creative slot in 2006 with over 12 years of artistic and directorial
experience. Prior to that, he served as Artistic Director of Actor’s Express Theatre Company in Atlanta for almost four years, where he planned and managed a 6-show Mainstage season, a reading series, new play development workshops, mainstage corollary programming, education programs and intern and school classes. He assumed the role at Actor’s Express after an eight-year stint as the Founding Producing Artistic Director of Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival. He led the Festival from a nomadic, start-up organization to a company with a $720,000 annual budget, a full-time staff of 7 administrators, a full-time acting company of 5 artists and a full-time paid intern company of 11, in its ninth season. During his tenure at Marin Theatre Company, Jasson has directed several plays, including The Subject Tonight is Love during his first season, and subsequently Love Song, Said SAID, A Streetcar Named Desire, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Seafarer, Lydia, Sunlight, Equivocation, and Happy Now? Current works include Seagull, Tiny Alice, The Glass Menagerie, Othello and Waiting for Godot.
Marin Theatre Company was founded as the Mill Valley Center for the Performing Arts by Sali Lieberman and Al White in 1966, with its first twenty seasons produced at the Mill Valley Golf Club. In 1984, the MVCPA was renamed Marin Theatre Company, in recognition of the company's growing role as the preeminent regional theater in Marin County. and the construction of its new two-theater home on Miller Avenue. MTC’s two intimate theaters include the 231-seat proscenium Boyer Theatre, and the 99-seat thrust Lieberman Theatre. Today, MTC's core focus is its main stage season of classic and contemporary plays, running a combined 185+ performances and serving close to 40,000 patrons from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
