IN CONVERSATION WITH RICHARD WOLINSKY

Ed Decker is a graduate of San Francisco State University and a former Director of the American Conservatory Theatre Young Conservatory. Ed is particularly proud of the tumultuous events in 1981 which galvanized a group of concerned parents and students to join forces resulting in the birth of The New Conservatory Theatre Center. A great source of joy is NCTC’s multi-theatre complex that showcases our Pride Season, In-Concert/Cabaret Series, Family Theatre, Emerging Artists, and the YouthAware Educational Theatre. Ed has served as a site evaluator for the California Arts Council, Marin Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is the recipient of the STOP AIDS award for developing NCTC’s HIV Prevention touring programs for youth ages 5-18 that have been touring since 1986. Under his leadership NCTC has been named a two time winner of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Arts Excellence Award.

Founded in 1981, The New Conservatory Theatre Center is a not-for-profit theatre company located in San Francisco. NCTC showcases an eight-show LGBT-themed Pride Season, an In-Concert/Cabaret Series, Family Theatre performances, YouthAware Touring Educational Theatre, and an Emerging Artists program. NCTC also houses a comprehensive year-round Conservatory for youth and adults.
